01 Feb CONSULTATION ON CHANGES TO SEX & RELATIONSHIP EDUCATION & PSHE
High-quality Sex & Relationship Education (SRE) & Personal, Social, Health & Economic Education (PHSE) are important for the education sector, but they are also key for improving the wider determinants of health & social outcomes. Getting SRE & PHSE right is likely to have a positive impact on public health & wellbeing too – it’s primordial prevention.
Our children & young people need accurate, relevant, & memorable education to equip them with the skills, knowledge, & confidence to flourish in their dynamic world. The last update to the existing governmental guidance on Sex & Relationship was in 2000, so it’s safe to say it is now out of date.
That’s why Purple Pen have contributed to the Department for Education’s consultation on ‘changes to the teaching of sex & relationship education & PHSE’.
Since 19 Dec 2017, the UK Government has been holding a consultation on how to reform SRE in primary & PHSE in secondary schools. The updated guidance is expected to support schools in delivering the new subjects of Relationships Education at primary & Relationships & Sex Education (RSE) at secondary, as well as, potentially, (PSHE).
The Purple Pen team wants to support innovation & reform in all matters which affect the social & healthcare sector. We have completed the consultation survey, will be closely following the next steps. Have your say by completing the online consultation survey here
Consultation closes on 12 Feb 2018
